1–5% panthenol left on the skin holds water in the outer skin and speeds closure of clean, shallow wounds after cosmetic laser. Eczema can improve with panthenol moisturizing creams, often mixed with petroleum jelly. Delayed contact allergy is the main harm. New itch or rash at the application site is the safety check. Not a substitute for dietary vitamin B5. (Full Review)
